THE HEART BEHIND LIONHEART

Why Lionheart?

More than a name. A way of seeing people.

Names tell stories and speak to identity.

For me, Lionheart represents far more than a business name.

It reflects a way of understanding people, approaching healing, and participating in God’s work of restoration.

Whether you come to Lionheart for counseling, a personalized therapy intensive, or simply to learn more, my hope is the same:

That you would be deeply seen, compassionately understood, and gently invited to recover the dignity of your God-given identity so you can cultivate the courage to live wholeheartedly.

Courage Is More Than Fearlessness

The lion has long been a symbol of courage.

Not the absence of fear.

The willingness to move toward what matters despite it.

Many of the people I work with have spent years carrying responsibilities, adapting to difficult circumstances, caring for others, or quietly surviving experiences that shaped them in profound ways.

Healing often begins not with becoming fearless, but with discovering the courage to understand yourself honestly, embrace your story with compassion, and take the next faithful step forward.

That is what Lionheart represents.

Restoration Has Always Felt Like Home

The name Lionheart also carries a deeply personal meaning.

My family name is Leonard—a name associated with being lion-hearted.

That connection made Lionheart feel less like a name I invented and more like one I had been carrying all along.

As I learned about the traditions surrounding St. Leonard of Noblac, I was struck by stories of mercy, freedom from captivity, and restoration.

Those themes resonated with values that shaped my life long before I became a counselor.

Through years in ministry, addiction recovery work, and counseling, I’ve come to believe that people are never defined by their hardest chapter.

Redemption, restoration, and recovery remain possible.

Wholeheartedness

The Courage to Live Wholeheartedly has become the heartbeat of Lionheart.

Wholeheartedness is not about perfection or having life completely together. It is about living with increasing congruence between who God created you to be and how you actually live.

Many of us learn to build identities around achievement, performance, responsibility, or survival. Therapy offers an opportunity to gently lay those burdens down.

Wholeheartedness is not becoming someone different. It is becoming more fully yourself.

Why Wholehearted?

The word wholehearted took on deeper meaning during a personal season of my own journey.

As I reflected on Proverbs 4:23, I began to see the heart not simply as emotion, but as the God-given center of identity, purpose, and stewardship.

Over time, wholeheartedness came to represent living in increasing alignment with who God created us to be rather than who fear, performance, or survival have asked us to become.

What Kind of Place Is Lionheart?

Lionheart is a place where curiosity comes before judgment.

Where stories matter.
Where questions are welcomed.
Where faith and clinical excellence walk together thoughtfully, without confusion.

Where strengths are honored, struggles are understood, and people are never reduced to a diagnosis.

Where healing is not rushed.
Where courage grows one faithful step at a time.

And where people are cared for with open hands, believing that each season of healing prepares them for the next place God is calling them.

Counseling Is Only the Beginning

Lionheart Counseling is the first expression of a larger vision.

Today, that begins with thoughtful ongoing counseling and personalized therapy intensives. Over time, Lionheart hopes to grow into a wider ecosystem of education, workshops, resources, and communities that support people through every season of becoming.

While those expressions will continue to develop, the heart will remain the same:

Helping people recover the dignity of their God-given identity and cultivate the courage to live wholeheartedly.

The Lionheart Promise
